E-Journals ("Serials Solutions")

Serials Solutions provides a list of all of the journal titles available via Axe Library - electronic, microfilm, and print. Browse journal titles by selecting a letter from the alphabet. Or, search for a journal title by keyword, first word in the title or the exact title. Use the Tips for details on how each database will display journal holdings.

Tips for browsing journals via Serials Solutions:

ABI Inform: Highlight the journal title; use CTRL-C to copy. Then, click on the database name. In the database, select "Source Phrase" as the index field. Use CRTL-V to copy the journal title in the search box. Click on Search. The results will be a list of articles from the selected journal. To refine the results, click on "Searching" to return to the search page. In the second box add keywords or title words to find a particular article or topic.

Applied Science & Technology Full Text: Click on the database name to load the WilsonWeb journal directory. The directory will provide a list of volumes and issues that are full text. Browse the issue to locate the article(s).

Art Full Text:Click on the database name to load the WilsonWeb journal directory. The directory will provide a list of volumes and issues that are full text. Browse the issue to locate the article(s).

Business & Company ProFile ASAP: Click on the database name. The results will be a list of years that have full text. Locate the desired year. Then, locate the issue/month for a list of articles available.

Business & Company Resource Center: Highlight the journal title. Use CTRL-C to save the title to copy. Click on the database name. In the database, click on "Articles" . On the article search page, click on "Advanced Search". Use the drop arrow to change Keyword to Journal Name. CRTL-V to paste the journal name in the box. Click on "Search". The results will be a list of articles from the selected journal. To refine the results, click on "Revise Search" and add keywords or title words.

CINAHL: Highlight journal title. Use CRTL-C to save the title to copy. Click on the database name. On the database page, click on INDEX. On the General Index page, use CRTL-V to paste the title in the search box. Click on search. Click on the journal title. The results will be a list of articles from the selected journal. To refine the list, click on "Advanced" and enter additional terms. Click on "Search" for results. Click on "Search History" to combine the journal title results and the term search results.

Computer Database: Click on the database name. The results will be a list of years that have full text. Locate the desired year. Then, locate the issue/month for a list of articles available.

EBSCOhost EJS: The link goes directly to the journal site where either Tables of Contents or a list of volumes and years available with full text. The journals linked with EBSCOhostEJS are those subscribed to by Axe Library.

Expanded Academic ASAP: Click on the database name. The results will be a list of years that contain full text. Locate the desired year. Then, locate the issue/month for a list of articles available.

Health and Wellness Resource Center: Highlight the journal title. Use CTRL-C to save the title to copy. Click on the database name. On the database page click on ADVANCED. Use the drop arrow to change from keyword to "Source Title/Journal Name". CRTL-V to paste the title in the search box. Click "Search". The results will be a list of articles from the selected journal. To refine the results, click on "Revise Search," add keywords or title words in the second search box. Click search.

Health Reference Center Academic: Click on the database name. The results will be a list of articles from the selected journal. Locate the year. Then, locate the issue/month for a list of articles available.

Highwire Press: Click on the database name. The results will be the full text issues for the journal.

¡Informe!: Click on the database title. The results will be a list of articles from the selected journal. Locate the year. Then, locate the issue/month for a list of articles available.

JSTOR: Arts and Sciences I Collection Click on the database name. The results will be a page describing JSTOR's coverage of the journal. Either click to Browse the contents of the journal, or click to Search the contents of the journal.

LexisNexis Academic: Click on the database name. The link will open a search screen with the journal title pasted in as the publication to search. Enter terms and dates as needed.

LexisNexis Congressional: Click on the database name. Then, choose which the appropriate section, such as: Publications, Committees, or Regulations.

Pittsburg State University Print Holdings: Click on the "Pittsburg State University Print Holdings." The record for the journal will display. Arrow down to the Subscription Summary (lower box)to show the years and volumes and the location of the journal. Bound volumes are in the basement, microfilm is in the hallway on the lst floor, and the current periodicals are on the open shelves on the lst floor.

ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source: Click on the database name. The result will be list of months, years, and issues available in full text.

PubMedCentral: Click on the database name. The result will be the full text issues for the journals.


E-Books:

NetLibrary is a collection of over 10,000 titles. Topics range from history to literature, business, computer science, education, and health. Additionally thousands of books in the public domain are included. Off campus users will be asked for a student ID and a GusPIN.

Books 24x7 provides full text of over 2,000 books in the areas of computer science, graphic design, web publishing, information technology and telecommunications. Books from the last 3-5 years are included. Off campus users will be asked for a student ID and a GusPIN.

Making of America Contains over 8,500 books and 50,000 journal articles from the 19th century. Represents American social history from the Antebellum Period through Reconstruction.

Project Gutenberg provides plain text of thousands of books that have entered the public domain. They can be downloaded or read online. Coverage of titles is broad, from literature to mathematics to history and language.


E-Newspapers:

LexisNexis Academic Text of over 500 major and regional U.S. papers and some international newspapers. Off campus users will be asked for a student ID and a GusPIN.

National Newspaper Index Indexes 5 major newspapers: The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, New York Times and the Washington Post. Indexing is from 1979 to the present. Off campus users will be asked for a student ID and a GusPIN.
