(GSA) -
A multi- and interdisciplinary association of scholars in German, Austrian,
and Swiss history, literature, culture studies, political science, and
economics. Association publishes a scholarly journal - German
Studies Review - as well as a Newsletter.
Members are generally professors at universities in colleges in North America.
- American Association of Teachers of German
(AATG) -
6,000 member association for teachers of German at all levels of instruction
and all those interested in the teaching of German. Holds an annual meeting,
publishes the German Quarterly, keeps an e-mail
list advertising teaching positions and gives an Outstanding High School
Senior in German Award.
- Modern Language Association
(MLA) -
30,000 member organization designed to promote cultural exchange between
scholars of modern languages. Hosts annual convention, publishes four major

mission of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages is
